Abstract

This plaque details the history of the Battle of Kepaniwai, in Wailuku, Maui in 1790, the last and one of the most bitterly contested of King Kamehameha I's battles to gain supremacy of the Hawaiian Islands. Folllowing the defeat of the opposing forces on Maui, King Kamehameha I became the first Hawaiian monarch to have control of all of the Hawaiian Islands.
