Abstract
View of Kalaupapa Peninsula and settlement from across Awahua Bay at the base of the 1600-foot high sea cliffs on the north coast of Molokai. From 1866 Kalaupapa was the site of total isolation for victims of Hansen's Disease (leprosy). It has been a national park since 1980. This image shows how flat the pensinsula is across the bay where victims of Hansen's disease were dropped off in exile.
