Abstract

The rugged and spectacular Na Pali (lit. Big cliffs) coast along the north-west of the island of Kauai, ends at the Kalalau valley and beach, inaccessible except by boat or hiking. A strenuous 11 mile hiking trail, the Kalalau trail, follows the coast.
