Abstract
Hilo city, county capital, is situated on Hilo Bay, on the north-east coast of the Island of Hawaii. With a population of approx. 40,000, Hilo is a "laid-back town". This image shows Bayfront Highway which runs along Hilo's waterfront business district, and where many older wooden commercial buildings are preserved as heritage sites.
