Abstract
Rainbow Falls, Waianuenue(lit. rainbow seen in water) on the Wailuku River north of Hilo on the island of Hawaii. Sunshine and mist often produce beautiful rainbows at the base of this 80ft waterfall. Hawaiian legend says that the cave beneath the falls was the home of Hina, mother of the demigod Maui in Polynesian mythology.
