Abstract
One of the most amazing sights one can see if one is on the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii's highest mountain (4250m ; 13,769ft), at dawn, is the shadow of Mauna Loa (13,679ft) Hawaii's second highest volcano, but the largest in terms of size, cast in the western sky.
