Abstract

The school was opened on 17th July 1865, (official opening on 24th July 1865), with 16 pupils on the first day. Charles Johnson was the first headmaster and stayed until 30th April 1866. Several other headmasters followed until Mr. J. J. Caine (later a school inspector) was appointed in 1868. Mr. Caine held the position for 5 years. The new school, known as Windsor State School, was opened on 5 August 1916 (Description supplied with photograph)
