Abstract

On 30 May 1886, Ly-ee-Moon (Capt. Arthur W. Webber) was on voyage from Melbourne to Sydney, New South Wales with a cargo of general goods and 45 passengers and a crew of 41, when she was wrecked off Green Cape New South Wales. Ly-ee-Moon shipwreck resulted in the loss of 71 lives on the night of May 30, 1886, and is considered to be one of NSW's worst maritime disasters. Only 15 survived the tragedy and 24 bodies were recovered for burial in unmarked graves in a small cemetery a short distance from the lightstation (Wikipedia)

This is the boat that R.A.H. L'Estrange took from Melbourne to Cooktown circa 1883.
