Abstract

Customs House, Queen Street, Brisbane. Designed by architect Charles McLay of the Colonial Architect's Office in 1886. The building has an imposing appearance with Queen Street and river frontages, flanked by two pedimental gables with a space between filled in by massive colonnades, including a balcony on the first floor. A copper-sheathed dome towards one end sits over an internal staircase.
