Parliament House in Brisbane is the meeting place of the Parliament of Queensland, housing its only chamber, the Legislative Assembly. It is located on the corner of George Street and Alice Street at Gardens Point in the CBD, and is next to the Queensland University of Technology and City Botanic Gardens (Wikipedia)

During the time when Moreton Bay was still a penal colony, a large convict barracks was built in what later became the site for the state parliament. After Queensland's separation from New South Wales, the first elected parliament needed a permanent building, and a design competition was held in 1864.

The foundation stone for the building was laid in 1865, and the construction was completed in three stages. The wing along George Street was finished in 1868, and the main section was completed in 1879. The final additions, including the arched colonnade, were completed in 1891. The building's stone was sourced from a quarry on the nearby Breakfast Creek.

Over time, Parliament House's exterior has aged gracefully, softened by the surrounding greenery, including jacaranda trees and palms. Inside, the grand staircase and much of the interior woodwork add to its elegance. The façade of the main wing overlooks the Botanic Gardens.
