Bain/O'Gorman
The Bain/O’Gorman Collection will consist of thousands of digitised 35 mm slides and digitised photographic images from the 1920s to early in the 21st century in many different geographic locations.
The images will include regions within the United Kingdom, Italy, Africa, India, Nepal, Turkey and South West United States.
Also displayed are Australian native flora, Australian native fauna, historical Brisbane/Queensland buildings and other Australian states and territories landmarks, wild places and wildlife.
Mr Jack Bain, 1905-1983 and Isabel Edith Doris Bain (nee Francis), 1904-1976 (grandparents of Dr Lyndal O'Gorman, the donor) were keen amateur photographers and their daughter, Mrs Cynthia O’Gorman, 1934-2016, (mother of Dr Lyndal O’Gorman) was also a keen amateur photographer.

The donor, Dr Lyndal O’Gorman (QUT Alumni and current Education academic) is the granddaughter of Jack Bain and daughter of Cynthia O’Gorman who were both amateur photographers.
The first collection image is of a Poinciana tree, Kemp Place, Fortitude Valley with the Story Bridge in the background (J. Bain, Nov 1955) and second compilation image is of Jack Bain and Cynthia O'Gorman in the 1970s.
Much of the digitisation has been done with thanks to equipment purchased with funds from "The Leesa Watkin Memorial Award".
