Abstract

In 1897, the second permanent Victoria Bridge opened, following the first, which was washed away in the 1893 floods. The bridge was concreted in 1920-21 and was later demolished in 1969 as it could no longer meet the traffic needs of the area. The bridge connects South Brisbane and the Brisbane Central Business District and was designed by Alfred Barton Brady.
