Abstract

A former town hall, Windsor Shire Council Chambers is situated at 356 Lutwyche Road, Windsor, Brisbane. Built by William Parsons and designed by architect Thomas Coutts it was erected between 1896 and 1897. This building was also known as the Windsor Town Council Chambers, with the first meeting on the premises taking place in March 1897. In 1925 it became the property of the Brisbane City Council and by the late 1990’s was vacated. It is now used by the Brisbane Branch of National Trust of Queensland and the Windsor and District Historical Society.

The chambers are a small masonry building constructed of Brisbane Tuff and a corrugated iron roof, positioned on an island like mount between Lutwyche Road, Hawkins and Palmer streets.
