Abstract

Jack and Isabel Bain from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia did a round the world post retirement trip in 1966. This photograph shows Pohutu geyser, New Zealand in October 1966.

Pohutu Geyser is a geyser in the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, Rotorua, in the North Island of New Zealand. In Māori, Pohutu means "big splash", "explosion" or ‘constant splashing.

The main geyser of the area, and the largest in New Zealand, it spurts up to twenty times per day and can reach heights of up to 30 metres (100 feet). (Wikipedia)
