Abstract
Owen Wordsworth, Deputy Director at QIT since 1974, replaced Fraser, taking up his appointment from March 1981 . Wordsworth, born at Gordonsvale, North Queensland, completed his doctorate at the University of Queensland . Foundation Head of Physics at QIT from 1968, he was also Head of the School of Applied Science . Thus, Wordsworth represented continuity and stability from the past and a leadership/management style that would differ little from his predecessor. Owen Wordsworth began as director in early 1981, but it was to be a short term as he died suddenly in June 1982. (A Class of Its Own: a history of Queensland University of Technology)
