Abstract
Cassowaries are large flightless birds of the genus Casuarius. Their diet consists mainly of fruit and they are native to New Guinea, adjoining islands and Northern Australia. Hartley's Creek Zoo was the predecessor of Hartley's Crocodile Adventures near Palm Cove in North Queensland. The business began in 1934 as a teahouse with the original owner entertaining the tourists with Australia's first crocodile show.
