Abstract

Flying Fox is the common name for Pteropus (suborder Yinpterochiroptera), a genus of megabats.
This photograph was probably taken at Hartley's Creek Zoo at Cairns in North Queensland. Hartley's Creek Zoo was the predecessor of Hartley's Crocodile Adventures near Palm Cove in North Queensland. The business began in 1934 as a teahouse with the original owner entertaining the tourists with Australia's first crocodile show.
