Abstract
The Gillies Highway is a scenic route between Atherton and Gordonvale. It was built in 1922 to provide a short route from the Atherton Tableland to Cairns. It was named after William Gillies, the local member for Eacham and a former premier. It travels through Little Mulgrave National Park and around Lake Barrine before passing through Yungaburra.
It is a mountainous and scenic route, as this photograph attests.
