Abstract
The African Tulip Tree is native to Africa but has become a significant weed in much of northern Australia. It has previously been used as a street tree and is often seen in gardens. It has attractive orange flowers, but these are regarded as possibly toxic to native bees and other insects.
Port Douglas is a coastal town in North Queensland. It is a popular tourist destination.
