Abstract
Kangaroo Point after the removal of extremity, giving an additional 200 ft. in width. A.U.S.N. Co's Turbine Steamer, Bingera, going down the river. One of the Harbour and Rivers Dept. barges coming up.
"Kangaroo Point where almost 3 acres of land was removed, and the width of the river increased by some 200 feet . Much work has also been done at Garden Point in the Domain and at Bulirnba Point, opposite the mouth of Breakfast Creek, thus greatly facilitating the navigation of the river by big vessels. Indeed, it is declared that at the present time there the small food which occurred in March, 1908 (when the river rose 14 feet at the Port Office, caused little or no silting in the cuttings. It was noted also that the flood waters got away much faster than was formerly the case, and it is believed that when the river improvements are completed to the full sectional area intended, it will he impossible for any future flood to cause such damage to the waterways as occurred in 1893" p. 117 from Jubilee History of Queensland book
