Abstract

Mt. Mihara is located on the island of Izu-Oshima, approx. 100 km south of Tokyo, 22 km east of the Izu Peninsula. Oshima is the largest of the Izu group of Islands which are administered by the Tokyo Metropolitan government and are part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu national park. Mt. Mihara is an active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1986
