QUT Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Discipline has its roots in the former Brisbane College of Advanced Education, and became part of Queensland University of Technology upon its creation in 1990. In 2000, the QUT Creative Industries Faculty was founded, bringing together 16 different disciplines including creative and performing arts, media and communication, literary and screen studies, and design disciplines such as fashion and architecture.

The QUT Visual Arts Discipline offers one of the most focused programmes of fine arts study in Australia, offering students an open, interdisciplinary approach to art making. Students work in all modes of visual practice side by side as they respond to the emerging characteristics of contemporary art, in particular its diversity and self-awareness. The Discipline is committed to linking the study of modern and contemporary art history and theory with its open studio model, creating a uniquely integrated experience for students.
